Problem statement
Wimbledon is partnering with IBM to create an interactive enhanced draw experience for their fans. Using leading AI causality and predictive modeling capabilities, this new feature enables fans to make match predictions and see theavor
the path to the Championships for their favorite players. Not only driving entertainment value and encouraging discussion amongst fans, this shift toward draw-based insights promotes IBM's technological capabilities.

Concepting
How can IBM deliver a net-new stat to the tennis world? How can we create a “map” of the tournament via the draw, with data layers showing paths, percentages, results, and potential match-ups? These are the questions our team attempted to answer as we embarked upon creating the AI Draw Analysis feature for the
the Wimbledon Tournament. Utilizing current Wimbledon App functionalities like Power Index Leaderboard and Player Profiles, we concepted an integrated experience that enables users to deeply engage with the players and matches.
03
Experience design
IBM watsonx powered AI Draw Analysis is a first-of-its-kind tennis statistic for the Wimbledon Tournament that utilizes both structured and unstructured data from IBM Power Index & Likelihood to Win to project the level of advantage or disadvantage of all players in the singles draw. Each player receives an IBM
AI Draw Analysis at the start of the tournament, which updates daily as the tournament progresses and players are eliminated. Every draw is ranked, allowing fans to click into individual matches and see the projected difficulty of their draw and potential opponents.

Recognition
Technology Magazine
“It's adapting all the time, so it's a very visual way of looking at it which is very engaging to see as the tournament unfolds, seeing how that plays out, and we've had some really good reactions to this from fans here at Wimbledon.”
IBM Newsroom
"This new insight will help tennis fans to uncover anomalies and potential surprises in the singles draw, which would not be apparent by looking only at the players' ranking, inspiring more debate and engagement in the fan community."
